EES Academy: Educate. Support. Empower. Prepare.
By expanding the scope of the Graduate School Electrochemical Energy Storage (GS-EES) into a broader structure, the GS-EES has been transformed into the Electrochemical Energy Storage Academy (EES Academy), now addressing the needs of all early-career researchers (ECRs) — from master students and doctoral researchers to postdocs and junior faculty — while preserving the GS-EES brand for doctoral training and keeping it open to external participants.
Framework of the EES Academy
Doctoral researchers doing their research within the framework of POLiS automatically take part in the EES Academy. External participants are welcome to join the Block Courses and Summer Schools. The EES Academy
- addresses the full, community-spanning spectrum of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, from fundamental science to processing and application.
- offers a comprehensive education and training program in these areas, emphasizing interdisciplinary aspects.
- is committed to offering professional skills training, including management, research ethics, intercultural and transversal skills, amongst others.
What the EES Academy offers
The concept of the Qualification Program is to teach both scientific skills and professional skills which are beneficial for pursing a doctorate in the field of electrochemical energy storage and prepare for a future career in academia or industry. Offers include
- Interdisciplinary Block Course “Materials, Functioning and Technology of Batteries”.
- Annual Summer School.
- Workshops on scientific or method-related topics.
- Professional skills training in scientific communication, management, good scientific practice, and equal opportunities.
- Three-month research stay abroad.
