From the classroom to the battery lab

Today, we welcomed a group of students from Friedrich-List-Schule Ulm, together with international Erasmus students from Norway, Estonia and Italy, to the POLiS research facilities in Ulm.

The visit was part of an international Erasmus project focusing on “Transport and Mobility.” During their time at POLiS, the students explored the role batteries can play in the transformation of our energy and mobility systems.

Prof. Birgit Esser introduced the group to the importance of batteries for the energy transition, with a particular focus on electric mobility and current battery research. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to visit our laboratories and see how battery research is carried out in practice.

We were particularly pleased to learn that the idea for the visit originated from our battery podcast Geladen. It is great to see science communication creating a bridge between current research and the classroom – and ultimately bringing students directly into the lab.
