First POLiS Open Day in Ulm

A successful first “POLiS Open Day” at the Shared Facility in Ulm
The Shared Facility in Ulm combines physics and chemistry laboratories specialized for research in the field of energy storage and battery research. Main users are researchers of POLiS and associated projects. The physics and chemistry laboratories offer a wide selection of high-end devices that allows research from materials synthesis to characterization and electrochemical processes. The instruments and various gloveboxes are supplemented by the POLiS Materials Acceleration Platform (POLiS Map).
The "POLiS Open Day" was a great opportunity to showcase our core analytical tools not only to all researchers based in the Shared Facility, but also to interested colleagues from related institutes. Following short presentations on the “big five” instruments in the lab, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), the 40 participants were invited for a lab tour to see the showcased instruments along with other available equipment located in the laboratory.
